VERSATILITY IN TRUE LENOVO STYLE
The Yoga surname of a long family of Lenovo products is no coincidence. The Chinese company was the first major company to bring to the market a convertible laptop, capable of rotating up to 360 degrees to transform into a tablet. This tradition continues with its Lenovo Yoga 9i, a premium device with a 14-inch form factor and a screen capable of being positioned anywhere in between. In addition, it achieves this with a fairly light weight of 1.48 kilos (although it is not the lightest on the market) and only 16.5 millimeters thick. It does make some sacrifices in terms of connectors, such as the lack of a full HDMI port (one of its USB Type-C ports can be used to connect it to the TV or monitor) or a single full-size USB port.
Its body is made of aluminum and stands out both for its rounded edges that give it a unique touch and for the inclusion of a miniature sound bar in the hinge to rotate the screen. This soundbar has two tweeters and two woofers and is designed by Bowers & Wilkins.
As for its display, many options depending on the configuration you buy, which starts with an IPS and Full HD type display and ends with an OLED with 4K resolution. It is to be expected that this last option will raise a lot the price of the initial configuration that borders the 1,900 euros. By the way, with a brightness of 400 nits that facilitates its use outdoors and with VESA DisplayHDR 500 for a more faithful reproduction of colors in compatible content. There is no doubt that this is one of the features that stand out the most and make the difference with respect to a large number of competitors. In addition, this panel is very interesting if you are a graphic designer and want a more faithful reproduction of colors, since in its most powerful configuration it covers 100% of the DCI-3P space. And it does not lag behind when watching movies and series, which always have a point of spectacularity in an OLED panel.
EXTRA FEATURES FOR PROFESSIONALS
This model comes with a handful of features designed for professional use. It could not miss its fingerprint reader, which has been removed from the place where it usually is in many models (next to the trackpad) and placed directly on the keyboard. This keyboard has also been worked on and extended so that it occupies almost the entire width of the laptop, with the idea that larger keys can be used. Also the trackpad is larger for ease of use when we do not have access to a mouse.
Another feature to take into account is the one that takes advantage of its camera to detect the background of the scene and blur it in case we do not want the room to be seen when we are having a video conference. In addition, the camera can detect the face and automatically close the session if we leave the workstation. Lenovo's Precision Pen 2 stylus could not be missing either, which becomes a very interesting tool for making sketches and notes on the screen when we have it in tablet format or with the screen inverted.
PROCESSOR, MEMORY AND BATTERY LIFE
At the heart of the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen7 we find one of the latest Intel Core processors of the latest generation. Among them we have the Intel Core i7-1260P 12-core chip with a maximum speed of 4.7 GHz. This processor is combined with a RAM memory of up to 16 GB and an internal memory that can reach the tera of space in its most expensive configuration. It should be noted that this convertible works with Intel integrated graphics. Despite being intended in part for professionals, we do not have the option of increasing its graphics performance through a dedicated card.
In terms of battery life, the figures vary quite a bit depending on the panel and resolution we have chosen. In the most basic configuration, the usage time goes up to 20 hours for video playback in Full HD and 10 hours of typical use with applications and navigation. This figure drops with the most powerful OLED and 4K panel to 7 hours. These are not very competitive figures but it does meet the fair expectations for a laptop that we will use for traveling and moving around.
The Lenovo Yoga 9i will arrive in Spanish stores during the second quarter. Its price will start at around 1,500 euros, if you follow the usual exchange rate compared to the cost in dollars that has been announced. Of course, prepare your wallet because the price can go up quite a bit if you want to have one of the most powerful configurations.
